Staffing MSPs or Managed Service Providers are a special type of services company. They are like a master vendor that manages the many staffing vendors by providing a program management team to large companies to manage the hiring of temps, vendors and contractors. Most people never hear of them because they work in the background and don't hire contractors directly but instead work as a bridge between hiring managers and staffing agencies. Their only focus is managing the procurement and operations of the contract workforce for clients.
While the largest MSPs may have over a 100 customers, they are rarely serviced centrally. Each of those clients have their own MSP program management team that typically works onsite at the client site. You will find them listed as "Program Manager, ProUnlimited at Facebook'" for example. The quality of the MSP program is therefore dependent on this small MSP team supporting the client and may be highly variable depending on the MSP team, the client requirements, the approved staffing agencies.
